Veterans Benefits Newsletter June 2022 Transitioning Veterans Consultation Transitioning Veterans is a free Military OneSource specialty consultation designed for service members returning to civilian life. You may be eligible for this personalized support if you are planning to separate or retire from service in the next 12 months or you are within 365 days of your last day of service. New Cancers Added to Presumptive List VA has added nine rare respiratory cancers to the list of presumed service-connected disabilities due to exposure to fine particulate matter. Veterans and survivors who had claims previously denied for any of these cancers are encouraged to file a supplemental claim for benefits. Fast and Affordable Internet Service If you or a Veteran you know is struggling to afford internet service, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) may put fast and reliable internet service within reach. ACP-eligible households can receive a discount of up to $30 per month for broadband service and access to affordable high-speed internet plans from 20 leading internet providers. Find out if you qualify and how to sign up. PTSD Disability Benefits Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can occur after exposure to extreme stress, such as combat, an assault, or a disaster. New VA Insurance Program Coming In January 2023, VA will launch a new program offering, Veterans Affairs Life Insurance (VALife), which provides guaranteed acceptance whole-life insurance coverage to Veterans ages 80 and under with any level of service-connected disability.
